How did you end up becoming a lawyer, and what motivates you in your work today?

I decided to study law because it felt like a natural way for me to understand and structure complex issues.
As a transactional lawyer, I’m motivated by the project-based nature of the work and the opportunity to help clients bring interesting transactions to a successful close. In my current role, I also combine legal work with developing the firm’s day-to-day operations, which adds variety and keeps things interesting.

What has been a particularly memorable moment in your work, or something you are especially proud of?

Being part of our clients’ success stories is always rewarding.

How do you support your colleagues in everyday work?

We have a very non-hierarchical culture, surrounded by highly capable people. Rather than presenting my own views as the right answer, I prefer to challenge colleagues by asking questions and encouraging discussion.

What is one piece of advice or insight you’ve learned in your career that everyone should know?

To borrow John F. Kennedy’s famous words: “Ask not what your firm can do for you—ask what you can do for your firm.”
The development of a firm depends on the initiative and contribution of everyone who works there.

If you weren’t working as a lawyer, what would you be doing?

In high school, I studied advanced mathematics and physics, so engineering would quite possibly have been my career path.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time that might surprise people?

I enjoy cycling in many different forms and spending time outdoors whenever I can.
