How did you end up becoming a lawyer, and what motivates you in your work today?

Becoming a lawyer was a dream of mine from a young age. What continues to motivate me today is the variety of interesting cases and the opportunity to help individuals and businesses solve their legal challenges. I also have a genuine, lasting interest in the law itself, year after year.

What has been a particularly memorable moment in your work, or something you are especially proud of?

On several occasions, I’ve felt proud to see that a contract I drafted has contributed to a commercially successful and well-functioning outcome. On the dispute side, in addition to important wins, the most memorable moments are those where a difficult case has ultimately led to a sensible and constructive settlement.

What is your approach to working with clients in your day-to-day work?

I aim to quickly identify the core of the issue at hand. The ability to truly listen to others plays a key role in this.

What is one (legal) piece of advice or insight you’ve learned in your work that everyone should know?

Focus on what truly matters.

If you weren’t working as a lawyer, what would you be doing?

I would most likely be working in HR or as a psychologist.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time that might surprise people?

I spend much of my free time around horses and at our summer cottage.
